The ache of waiting hopefully
Over the course of 2020, we have become well practised in waiting. While the world has kept its head down and face covered, digging in to outlast the pandemic, movements for greater social justice have lost patience and risen up to struggle for change. At one and the same time, we have waited too long for equality and real quality of life and not yet long enough for certainty and security. The waiting of Advent 2020 is indeed quite complex.
This weekend retreat hopes to direct our waiting and impatience for a better world towards the God who enters it out of love. Who is Emmanuel (“God with us”) today and how do we actively receive this divinity that comes to transform us personally and collectively? Over the retreat we will engage in practices of waiting and action that make us, like the holy family, vital participants in the Incarnation.
The retreat consists of recorded videos, plus optional spiritual direction and group sharing.
Please note that space is limited so register early. Deadline to register is November 20.
