An Advent Retreat

Does God really care? Does God look upon the world? Individuals occasionally experience that loving gaze of God. Many know it especially when they are in need, at a low point in life, or in unexpected moments of life. But does God really care about the state of the world? The evidence is against a caring God, but faith says otherwise. Faith is strengthened by the caring presence of others. Can they strengthen your sense of God’s gaze on the world? This one-day retreat is offered in the season of Advent and will be structured around the Incarnation exercise of Saint Ignatius of Loyola. Can we learn from Mary and Joseph, Elizabeth and Zechariah, and others?
This program includes several brief presentations, each followed by time for personal prayer. There is a celebration of the Eucharist. Important: There is no kitchen service on this day. Refreshments and minimal snacks will be available. Please bring your own lunch.
Fr. Philip Shano, SJ will facilitate this weekend retreat.
Philip Shano has been a Jesuit for over 45 years and recently returned to serve at Loyola House, having previously been on the spiritual direction team in the 1990s. Most of his diverse Jesuit ministry has involved retreat, education and formation work rooted in Ignatian spirituality.
