The Holy Week Retreat is now FULL! Please see other retreat opportunities and apply!
The 8-day Holy Week begins Saturday evening, April 9 and ends on Easter Sunday. It has its origin in the dramatic liturgies of the Jerusalem Church: the procession with palms; the passion narratives; veneration of the cross; and the Easter Vigil, with its focus on light in darkness, and rebirth through the water of baptism.
As we approach these rituals in this retreat, we bring the challenges and gifts of our contemporary world as well as our personal lives, letting the prayerful symbols and actions embrace our longings.
This 8-Day Directed Retreat provides you with individual direction in an environment of silence and prayer. A spiritual director meets with you each day, listens as you share your prayer experiences, helps you reflect on them and discover the path God is revealing to you. This facilitates a deepening of your relationships with God.
In this Holy Week, you will also have the opportunity to make the Stations of the Cosmos and the Stations of the Cross with a guide. In addition to our Triduum services, there will be morning prayer in the chapel on Good Friday and Holy Saturday. These retreats are usually based on Sacred Scripture and there is opportunity for participation in a daily Eucharist.
Holy Week concludes on Easter Sunday with after the 9am Eucharist.
Loyola House has completed renovations to the accommodation wing of the retreat house. This included new flooring, walls painted, counters replaced, 20 ensuites created and our shared washrooms renovated as well.
