A Day of Guided Prayer

One of the most familiar accounts of encounters with the Resurrected Lord is the story of the road to Emmaus, from the end of Luke’s Gospel. It is a story that speaks to Christians in a profound way. As well, it provides a summary of the dynamics of the spirituality of Saint Ignatius of Loyola, the movement from desolation to consolation, from individualism to community. The story also helps with a comprehension of the Christian notion of pilgrimage, an image that has inspired the church for many centuries. The day consists of three brief presentations, each followed by time for personal reflection; and includes the Eucharist, lunch and snacks.
Fr.Philip Shano, SJ will facilitate this one day retreat.
Philip Shano has been a Jesuit for over 45 years and recently returned to serve at Loyola House, having previously been on the spiritual direction team in the 1990s. Most of his diverse Jesuit ministry has involved retreat, education and formation work rooted in Ignatian spirituality.
