The Jesuits of Canada announced earlier this year the closure of Orchard Park, the former Ignatius College and St. Stanislaus Novitiate. Constructed in three phases beginning in 1934, this building sheltered several generations of student Jesuits, later becoming home to multiple community organizations, therapists, artists, school children, beekeepers, agriculturalists, naturalists, musicians, meditators, and others. Although not officially designated a heritage building, Orchard Park houses a treasury of history.

The Ignatius Jesuit Centre wishes to celebrate this diverse history on June 5, before Orchard Park closes to the public on June 30. You are invited to pay tribute to a large, eccentric, charming, labyrinthine feature of Guelph for the last 90 years. Bring your stories (including the ghost variety) of OP, a contribution to the potluck lunch (Loyola House kitchen will provide chili and bread) and non-disposable cup/bowl/plate/cutlery to eat with. The party will take place in Room 180 (Blue Room) and in the Courtyard.
