Land Management

The land of the Ignatius Jesuit Centre supports a diversity of ecosystems. These include deciduous and mixed forest, meadows, urban fringe, naturalized and ornamental landscapes, Class 1 & 2 agricultural land and Class 3 provincially significant wetlands.

The Land department is responsible for the care of all non-agricultural land at Ignatius. Over 370 acres of natural and ornamental landscapes that facilitate prayer, meditation, education, recreation and community outreach programs. Work varies from ecological restoration, forestry, and construction, to landscaping and property maintenance. We believe in right relationship with the Earth and affirming our commitment to environmental stewardship, the land is maintained without the use of synthetic or petroleum–based chemicals.
