Spiritual Direction Training

For over fifty years, Loyola House has been a centre for deep spiritual formation rooted in the wisdom of the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola. We offer spiritual direction training programs designed to teach spiritual directors, retreat leaders, and those seeking a deeper grounding in discernment, prayer, and the art of spiritual accompaniment.

Our Spiritual Direction Training Programs provide intensive study with practical experience. Participants engage in:

  • In-depth study of the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius
  • Training in discernment, prayer methods, and spiritual conversation
  • Supervised practice in spiritual direction and retreat leadership
  • Integration of psychological, theological, and ecological perspectives

Whether you are discerning a call to accompany others on their spiritual journey or seeking to deepen your own relationship with God, these programs offer rich formation grounded in Ignatian tradition and attentive to the needs of today’s world.

Who is Spiritual Training For?

Our programs are open to those from diverse Christian backgrounds who feel drawn to the ministry of spiritual accompaniment. Ideal candidates are mature in their faith, have experience with spiritual direction themselves, and demonstrate a readiness for reflective listening and humble service.

Rooted in the Ignatian Way

At Loyola House, we draw from the deep well of Ignatian spirituality — emphasizing interior freedom, discernment of spirits, finding God in all things, and being sent forth in loving service. Spiritual training here is not merely about gaining skills; it is about becoming a contemplative in action, formed for mission in the Church and the world.
