The land at Ignatius Jesuit Centre in Guelph spans over 600 acres and includes forests, fields, wetlands, and farmland. It’s a place where people can connect with nature, reflect in quiet spaces, and learn about ecological restoration. IJC is committed to caring for the land while creating opportunities for people to experience it in meaningful ways.

One of IJC’s major ecological initiatives is the Old-Growth Forest Project. This long-term restoration project aims to return a 93-acre section of the land to its natural state over the next 500 years. Through tree planting, habitat restoration, and conservation efforts, the project helps protect local biodiversity and offers hands-on learning opportunities for schools and community groups.
More than 15 kilometers of trails are open year-round for walking, hiking, snowshoeing, and skiing. The trails wind through forests and fields, providing visitors with access to the natural landscape and opportunities for fresh air, exercise, and quiet reflection.

Scattered across the property are a number of sacred spaces. The Jesuit cemetery is a quiet and respectful place of remembrance. Nearby, the outdoor labyrinth offers a simple walking path for meditation and prayer. The Stations of the Cosmos is another unique feature—a trail installation that connects themes from the universe with spiritual reflection.
Together, these spaces reflect the Centre’s commitment to caring for both people and the planet, offering a peaceful environment for learning, reflection, and renewal.
