A One-Day Enneagram Workshop

In this workshop, we will explore how we experience others through the lens of our type. Others can unwittingly say or do things that challenge our sense of ourselves and we become defensive and reactive. Especially when already stressed and contracted into the automatic beliefs and emotions of our type, we will have a heightened sensitivity to certain behaviours in others and will interpret these through the assumptions/sensitivities of our type. When both people in a relationship are contracted, they can get caught in a spiral of misperception difficult to get out of. Pausing, reflecting on our own type and how it might be in play can be very helpful as a way to de-escalate tensions and move into a more productive exchange. This is not easy, but can be so very helpful.
The invitation for this workshop is to come with 1 or 2 relationships in mind that you would like to work on. We will spend time with each type, noticing the common themes that arise in a type’s relationships, because of the type structure. This will give everyone an opportunity to develop an awareness of and hopefully compassion for their own struggle in relationships and the struggle of others. We are all vulnerable and it can be so helpful to be aware.

About the Facilitator – Sue Guttenstein is a Certified Enneagram Teacher in the Narrative Tradition. She was a trauma Psychotherapist in Toronto for close to 25 years, working in the body as foundational to our healing work and growth. She offers numerous workshops that are a response to our current times, which recently included a series of 4 dealing with grief.
