Connected in Community
For decades, Ignatius Jesuit Centre has been shaped by a vibrant and diverse community. People come here for many reasons: to walk the trails, tend a garden plot, volunteer on the land, participate in spiritual programming, grow food at the Farm, study ecology, or simply find a quiet moment of reflection. Together, these many connections form a living community rooted in care for the land, spiritual depth, and a shared commitment to the wellbeing of our common home.
This community has never been defined by a single activity or group. It includes long-time volunteers and new visitors, farmers and neighbours, spiritual seekers and conservationists, educators, partners, and families who have walked these trails for generations. Each brings a relationship, a story, and a sense of belonging that helps sustain this place.

Friends of Ignatius Community Program
The Friends of Ignatius program is our way of recognizing, supporting, and strengthening this network of relationships. Friends are people who feel a connection to IJC and want to help nurture its future through learning, participation, volunteerism, or financial support. The program offers different ways to get involved, depending on your interests and capacity, while helping sustain the land, programs, and community life at IJC.
Becoming a Friend helps ensure that the trails remain open and cared for, that conservation work continues, and that land-based learning and spiritual programming can grow into the future. It is an invitation to deepen your relationship with this place and to be part of what it makes possible for others.

Caring for the Land and Community
Volunteers are at the heart of IJC. Each year, more than a hundred people give their time and skills to conservation work, farm projects, restoration, orchard care, event support, and stewardship across the property. Their hands shape the trails, strengthen habitat, grow food, maintain community spaces, and bring to life countless projects that would not be possible otherwise.
Volunteering at IJC is a way of forming relationships with the land and with others who care about it. With opportunities spanning the farm, conservation work, event support, and more, there are great ways for everyone to get connected.

Working Together for the Common Good
IJC’s work is strengthened by many partners—environmental groups, community organizations, educational institutions, researchers, farmers, local businesses, cultural groups, and practitioners who bring expertise, programs, and shared stewardship values. Some partnerships focus on ecological restoration, others on food access, spiritual formation, education, or community wellbeing. Together, they make it possible to offer programs and opportunities that reach far beyond what IJC could do alone.
These partnerships reflect our belief that care for the land and for one another is a collaborative effort. Working alongside others deepens our mission and extends the impact of this place across the broader community and region.

Belonging at IJC
Community at Ignatius Jesuit Centre is not something we build once. It is a relationship we cultivate together, season after season. Every person who gives time, contributes knowledge, attends a program, becomes a Friend, or simply spends time on the land helps sustain the life of this place.
Whether you are new to IJC or have known it for decades, there is a place for you here.
