Join Ignatius Jesuit Centre and rare Charitable Research Reserve for a guided Bioblitz Walk as part of the global City Nature Challenge.

A bioblitz is a community-driven effort to observe and record as many species as possible within a set time and place. During this walk, participants will explore the fields, forests, and waterways of Ignatius Jesuit Centre while learning how to identify plants, animals, and other living beings using the iNaturalist app.

Whether you’re new to species identification or already enjoy spending time observing the natural world, this is a chance to slow down, pay attention, and contribute to a growing body of ecological knowledge. The data collected during the walk will support ongoing conservation efforts locally and contribute to a global snapshot of biodiversity.

This event will be led in partnership with rare’s Community Conservation Coordinator, who will offer guidance on using iNaturalist and share insights into the ecosystems found on the land.

What to bring:

  • A smartphone or tablet (with the iNaturalist app downloaded, if possible)
  • Weather-appropriate clothing and sturdy footwear
  • Water
