Celebrate Earth Day with a hands-on morning of land stewardship at Ignatius Jesuit Centre. Join staff and volunteers as we work together to care for the landscape through two practical activities: cleaning up roadside litter along the highway and removing invasive buckthorn from nearby natural areas.
Buckthorn is an invasive shrub that spreads quickly and crowds out native plants, reducing biodiversity and disrupting forest ecosystems. By removing it, volunteers help create space for native species to return and support healthier habitats for birds, pollinators, and other wildlife.
Participants can expect a mix of light physical activity and outdoor learning while contributing directly to the care of the land. No previous experience is required, and guidance will be provided on-site.
Date: Wednesday, April 22
Time: 9:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
Location: Meet at the Farm Workshop
