The Great Family of Earth

$0.00

Families! Your children are invited to participate in 3 mornings of outdoor activities that build connection with their own creative and contemplative nature, the beauty of creation, and with other children.

These activities include a time to listen deeply to the earth by distinguishing birds’ songs,  hearing the wind whisper through the trees; observing flowers and plants grow; touching the texture of leaves, and greeting the insects and animals of our natural neighbourhood.

Each session is structured as its own unique experience with a different aspect of nature. Children who attend all sessions will gently discover a newfound relationship with nature at its best and journey along with friends who share in their own enjoyment of the outdoors.

Together we will celebrate the joy that St. Francis of Assisi expressed in his, ‘Canticle of the Sun’ deepening our deep relationship with other members of the Great Family of Earth.

IJC’s children’s programs use land-based and experiential learning approaches. Participants are encouraged to engage actively with the natural environment through exploration, observation, gardening, and other age-appropriate activities. Risks are managed but not eliminated, as learning to interact safely with the natural world is an important part of the educational experience. Participants and families should expect exposure to uneven terrain, mud, roots, rocks, variable weather conditions, insects, poison ivy, natural water features, and/or agricultural/natural environments.
