From a place of peace to a home of peace…
August 7-14 2021
As of April 30, the Walking Pilgrimage for 2020, as we know it, has been CANCELLED. Both Ignatius Jesuit Centre and Martyrs’ Shrine are closed to the public until the end of July due to the Covid-19 Pandemic.
A modified pilgrimage is being considered, either a virtual one, or perhaps a one-day version. More information will be provided as we move forward; we will keep you posted here.
Your safety, as well as the safety of all those generous people who support the pilgrimage each year, is of paramount importance to us.
Since 2002, in early August, a group of pilgrims journey from the Ignatius Jesuit Centre to the Jesuit Martyrs’ Shrine in Midland – a place that honours early Jesuit missionaries who introduced Christianity to the Huron Wendat Nation.
Organizers of the Walking Pilgrimage truly appreciate the ongoing support and involvement of the Jesuits. Their spiritual leadership has been invaluable to the ongoing success of this unique event.
Walking Pilgrimage is about:
- Nourishing your spirituality
- Enjoying the great outdoors
- Getting great exercise – 20 to 30 km per day!
- Having fun and enjoying good company
Those who walk the Guelph-to-Midland pilgrimage find it to be a unique and grace-filled experience. For eight days pilgrims pray, sing, laugh, and share stories with others as they journey; not always easy, it is always rewarding.
Join us as we cast off routine for eight days and acquiesce to a community of higher purpose. All ages are invited. Participate for a day, two days, or for the entire trip!
