Holding Our Planet Retreat

May 8 @ 6:00 pm - May 13 @ 11:00 am

With Cynthia Bourgeault

Apply here!

The Rev. Cynthia Bourgeault, Ph.D., is a modern-day mystic, Episcopal priest, writer, and internationally-acclaimed retreat leader.

This retreat aims to help participants bring “skillful means” to the current social and ecological situation imperiling the planet. These means include forbearance, strength, compassion, right timing, spiritual generativity, and personal mettle.

Daily teaching will be augmented by sustained work in core spiritual practices: the generation of necessary spiritual “nutrients” (such as faith, hope, trust, love), sacred dances and chanting. The work will be integrated through periods of silence and rest, plus some mindful, manual labor accomplished in teams.

The teachings will draw on Christian and other Wisdom traditions and their relevance to our world today. Wisdom is about inner transformation, aligning the mind, body and heart.

A special gift at this retreat will be an evening of music and storytelling with Canadian singer/songwriter Alana Levandoski, who will also be leading sacred chants throughout the retreat.

Familiarity and resonance with Cynthia’s body of work is recommended. For those less familiar with it, Cynthia’s senior students will offer advance, online sessions in order to prepare participants to receive the most out of the retreat.

Upon submitting the application form below, registrants will be notified regarding acceptance within 10 – 15 business days.

The Rev. Cynthia Bourgeault, Ph.D., is a modern-day mystic, Episcopal priest, writer and internationally-acclaimed retreat leader. Cynthia teaches from the Christian contemplative tradition with an interspiritual breadth and a distinctly Gurdjieffian flavour. A long-time student of Fr. Thomas Keating, she is the founder of an international network of contemplative Wisdom Schools and is the author of more than a dozen books including Wisdom Jesus, The Meaning of Mary Magdalene, The Eye of the Heart, Wisdom Way of Knowing, The Heart of Centering Prayer, Mystical Hope, and others. She has been honoured by the Watkins review as one of the hundred most influential living spiritual teachers of our times.

Alana Levandoski is a singer songwriter, recording producer, a folk opera composer, an essayist, and a willing canvas who makes (and is) art, enfleshed by contemplation, story, and reimagining devotion. Over the last 10 years, Alana has released 6 full-length albums and one EP inside of the niche of exploring Christian mysticism and the perennial traditions. Two of those albums were in collaboration with James Finley, one of the core faculty teachers at the Center for Action and Contemplation.
